Disney Still Pushing for Mulan Theatrical Release in China

In case you missed it, you won't have to wait in line to get tickets to see Mulan since the live-action adaptation of the animated classic will premiere on Disney+ next month. However, there's still one place in the world where you might be able to see the Disney flick in theaters. It has just been revealed that the House of Mouse is still pushing for Mulan's theatrical release in Chinese cinemas.

The revelation comes from a Chinese poster for Mulan that has been shared on Twitter. Interestingly, the image confirms that the movie will still get a theatrical release plan although the premiere date was not revealed. Check it out below.

This shouldn't be a huge surprise considering that Disney was aiming to win big at the Chinese box office with Mulan earlier this year. In addition to that, theaters have already started opening in China and moviegoers were able to watch movies that were released in early 2020 like Sonic the Hedgehog and Dolittle. With that in mind, Mulan could still be the first major film to be released in Chinese theaters after the coronavirus outbreak.

But is this a good idea for Disney? If things don't work out as planned, Mulan could also bomb at the Chinese box office if fans decide to stay at home in fear of COVID-19. For now, there is a possibility that the House of Mouse will choose to release the film theatrically in early September before its Disney+ premiere. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
