Disney Says It’s Too Early To Say There Won’t Be Another Avengers Movie After Phase 3

Avengers: Infinity War might have sparked the beginning of the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but that doesn't mean we aren't going to see another Avengers movie after Avengers 4.

Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger just recently spoke about the future of the MCU during the Mickey Mouse House's most recent earnings call . According to The Hollywood Reporter, Iger not only spoke of the Marvel franchise's future outside of Phase 3, he also teased more movies for the Avengers in the next ten years.

"Given the popularity of the characters and given the popularity of the franchise, I don't think people should conclude there will never be another Avengers movie," Iger said during the meeting.

Marvel's most recent film, Avengers: Infinity War, has been nothing but a critical and commercial success. The film which beat Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the domestic box office and The Fate of the Furious at the global box office during its opening weekend is now expected to end its theatrical run with $1.8 billion to $2 billion. It wouldn't make sense for Disney to let such a lucrative franchise go.

But that's not all that Marvel and Disney have up their sleeve. During the meeting, Iger also hinted at another franchise to go beyond the Avengers. Guess the studio's trying to fill in the hole fans might feel after Avengers 4. Though we're not entirely sure what kind of franchise the studio is planning, it could very well have to do with the Marvel Cosmic Universe that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is building for Marvel.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently screening in cinemas.
