Disney Says Fox Acquisition Could See Completion By June

It looks like we'll finally get to see Disney complete its acquisition of 21st Century Fox and the studio's various film and television assets.

The Walt Disney Company just recently made a new SEC filing with an outline of the various achievements that it's made last year. One of the achievements that it listed down in the document is the agreement to acquire Fox, and at the bottom of the page, the Mickey Mouse House wrote that it was actually expecting that the deal would "close before June 2019."

This might come as a bit of a surprise to those following the Disney and Fox merger. Back in December, industry analysts said that the deal between the two giants would close by the end of 2019. However, antitrust regulators from countries like Brazil and Mexico have created a few hurdles for the merger, airing concerns that the deal would result in a "significant increase in concentration in the market of sports channels on cable TV and a high probability that Disney could control the market."

Some might feel the same way too. Disney's already a giant in itself, but in the past few years, it has acquired major studios like Marvel, Lucasfilm (Star Wars) and Pixar. Now, Disney is after Fox, ballooning even further.

However, the acquisition does have its upsides. Once the Fox acquisition is completed, Marvel fans expect the integration of the studio's mutant characters like the X-Men and Fantastic Four into the Marvel Cinematic Universe – something that everyone's actually looking forward to.

Marvel's next film, Avengers: Endgame, premieres April 26, 2019.
