Disney Reportedly Planning Knights Of The Old Republic Series

Disney is reportedly planning a series based on Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic for their streaming service.

Fans have been wanting to see this franchise to come back in some way, shape, or form, but they haven't really gotten their wish. If this rumor is to be believed, this might be about to change.

According to the folks over at We Got This Covered, among the slew of Star Wars projects that Disney has in the pipeline for Disney+, is this Knights Of The Old Republic series. There's no word yet on whether or not it will be live-action like The Mandalorian as details are apparently "non-existent" at the moment.

The site says that the return of KOTOR may have been necessitated by the lackluster blockbuster performance of the most recent films, specifically Solo: A Star Wars Story, which didn't make as much money as Disney hoped. The Last Jedi still has the fan base divided with some planning a boycott of Star Wars: Episode IX. However, the Knights Of The Old Republic adaptation just might bring the Star Wars community back together again.

KOTOR is set 4,000 years before the Galactic Empire came into existence. The game, released in 2003 by EA and Bioware, explored the time when thousands of Jedi and Sith roamed around the galaxy far, far away as opposed to the original and prequel trilogy, where the number has dwindled to single digits. The video game introduced now fan-favorite characters like Darth Revan and Darth Malak. It also brought fans back to Luke's home planet Tatooine.

The same website claims that apart from reviving Knights Of The Old Republic, Disney is also working on shows featuring Lando, sequel trilogy characters Finn and Poe, and even Qi'Ra from Solo. A big project of theirs, however, is apparently a young Princess Leia series.

These sound more like animated shows though. After all, doing a live-action based on Carrie Fisher's character may not sit well with a lot of fans especially with the star's untimely death, which fans will once again be reminded of in her posthumous appearance in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
