Fans of the Star Wars universe have had a love-and-hate relationship with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy who many believe is responsible for the "destruction" of the franchise thanks to the divisive sequel trilogy. Kennedy has been Lucasfilm's ironwoman since Disney acquired the rights to the production company in 2012 and for years now, people have been clamoring for her to step down from her current executive role.

Kennedy is closing in on her first decade as Lucasfilm chief but to those who are hoping to see her step down from the role or get ousted even, we've got some bad news for you. According to a new scoop from the folks over at Geekosity, Disney is expected to extend their partnership with Kathleen and she'll remain as Lucasfilm president for the foreseeable future.

Geekosity's source notes that the only way Kennedy will be ousted as Lucasfilm's President is if she decides to retire. The report also claims that Disney sees Kathleen as a valuable asset to the company and they don't want to lose her despite the fact that she has a lot of critics.

Kathleen signed a 3-year extension contract in 2018 which is set to expire in October. Coincidentally, the House of Mouse is set to hold a virtual event in the same month showcasing upcoming projects from all the properties under its umbrella and it wouldn't be shocking if they actually used the opportunity to announce Kennedy's extended contract at the spectacle. Of course, her legions of critics will probably be bummed out about it but it is what it is.

Meanwhile, Lucasfilm's next Star Wars offering The Book of Boba Fett premieres in December on Disney+.
