Disney Recreates Original Star Wars Vintage Poster With Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, Makes Ralph McQuarrie C3PO and R2D2 Ornaments

The original Star Wars poster has been recreated for Star Wars Celebration Chicago.

For those who don't know, the iconic vintage illustration featured a buff Luke raising a lightsaber in the air with both his hands. To his right was Princess Leia, who wields a blaster while striking a very interesting pose. These versions looked nothing like Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, but this poster fixes that.

For the new version titled The Hopeful and created by Jerry Vanderstelt, we get Hamill and Fisher's versions of Luke and Leia. The former holds up the lightsaber with just one hand looking like he is in awe. The latter had the same pose and was basically recreated to a T.

Like the original, C3PO and R2-D2 are next to them. Darth Vader still looms in the background, but zoomed out a bit. The Death Star in the vintage Star Wars poster was made smaller as well as the ships to give space to three other iconic characters. For this one, Sir Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan also got some love as well as Harrison Ford's Han Solo and Peter Mayhew's Chewbacca. Check out the side by side comparison below.

This reimagined Star Wars poster can be purchased at Star Wars Celebration Chicago for $125. It is one of the many exclusives that fans can get at the highly-anticipated event. Another is a model of the C3PO and R2D2 as designed by Ralph McQuarrie.

For those who don't know, the droids looked very different in early concept arts. McQuarrie drew C3PO with a more human face while R2-D2 had branch-like arms and was colored silver with red undertones as opposed to the silver and blue design that fans now and love. Called "Beginnings," this "keepsake ornament" pack is priced at $40. Check out the items below.

Some other interesting stuff you can get at Star Wars Celebration Chicago include a Lego Darth Vader bust as well as a Bronze Darth Vader statue priced $39.99 and $119.99, respectively.

Star Wars Celebration will be held inside Chicago's McCormick Place on April 11-15.
