While it feels like the movie had been delayed endlessly, the live-action adaptation of Mulan is finally going to hit Disney+ this weekend. With promos coming out everywhere, Disney has decided to release a new poster recreating the original one that came out back in 1998.

For comparison, here's the original poster:
It's a pretty cool tribute, and it makes you miss the more creative takes on posters back then. Nowadays, posters are kind of dictated by contracts and deals, and details have to be put down on which actors can appear on it and how much percentage of the space their faces can occupy.
Going back to Mulan though, some early reviews have been coming in for the film, and a lot of people have claimed that the movie is kind of underwhelming. We don't want to get into any specifics as to what made or broke the film, but I guess we'll have our audience verdict once the movie becomes available on Disney+. If movies like Star Wars: The Last Jedi have taught us anything, it's that critics and audiences have a tendency not to agree.
When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father. Masquerading as a man, Hua Jun, she is tested every step of the way and must harness her inner-strength and embrace her true potential. It is an epic journey that will transform her into an honored warrior and earn her the respect of a grateful nation…and a proud father.
Mulan hits Disney+ this coming Sept. 4 and will also be available in select theaters.
