Disney Reaches Settlement with Former Marvel Studios Executive

Last month, we learned the shocking news that long-time Marvel Studios executive Victoria Alonso abruptly left the studio after serving as the president of physical and post-production, visual effects, and animation. During that time, there was no immediate information regarding her sudden exit.

Days later, reports revealed that Alonso was actually fired by Disney due to a breach of contract as she served as the producer of the Oscar-nominated film Argentina, 1985 from Amazon, a rival studio. There are also fans who speculated that her firing might be related to the ongoing issue surrounding the studio's treatment of the VFX workers.

Afterward, Alonso's lawyer Patty Glaser responded to the claims by calling them "absolutely ridiculous" and she was "terminated when she refused to do something she believed was reprehensible." They also threatened a potential lawsuit against the company over the abrupt firing.

Disney issued a response to Glaser's statement by iterating the reports that Alonso's exit was due to a breach of contract and violation of company policy.

"It’s unfortunate that Victoria is sharing a narrative that leaves out several key factors concerning her departure, including an indisputable breach of contract and a direct violation of company policy. We will continue to wish her the best for the future and thank her for her numerous contributions to the studio," the company said during that time.

Now, it looks like the two parties have made a truce as Deadline reported that Disney has settled with Alonso over her firing from Marvel Studios last month. While the details are confidential, it is said to be a multimillion-dollar financial compensation.

Both Alonso's lawyer and Disney did not provide any statement or comment regarding the report on their settlement.

This is most likely the end of the road regarding the issue between Alonso and Disney over the former's firing from the studio that she served for around 17 years. So far, Marvel Studios has not announced Alonso's replacement for the position that she vacated.
