Disney May Be Thinking of Developing an X-Men Animated Series Sequel

It looks like Marvel fans might have something to look forward to during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The spread of the novel coronavirus might have shut down the production of highly anticipated Marvel movies and television series like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but it looks like Disney might have a new Marvel series on the way.

According to a report by Cosmic Book News, Disney may be planning to develop a sequel to the classic 90's X-Men animated series. Fans just recently spotted new X-Men artwork on Disney+ and it looks like the House of Mouse has given updated versions of characters like Magneto, Professor X, Wolverine, Cyclops, Rogue, Storm, Gambit, Beast, Jean Grey, and of course, Jubilee.

While the characters are obviously given a fresh new look, the art clearly follows the same design as the characters had in the popular 90's animated series.

You can check out a picture of the art down here:

The new X-Men art has somehow sparked speculation that Disney may actually be preparing a sequel to the X-Men animated series. After all, why would Disney go through the trouble of creating art for an old series? They could have just used old screenshots to make avatars for the streaming site. Either Disney wants updated avatars of the X-Men series, or the House of Mouse is planning a sequel. A sequel would make sense considering how popular X-Men was back in the 90s.

What do you think? Could we be getting a follow-up to the X-Men? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
