Disney Hires Oscar-Nominated Hidden Figures Screenwriter For Frozen 2

It looks like Disney's pulling out the big guns for its sequel to its 2013 smash hit 3D animated musical fantasy movie, Frozen.

The Hollywood Reporter has a new update on the Mickey Mouse House's Frozen 2, and according to the publication, the studio has just tapped Oscar-nominated Hidden Figures screen writer Allison Schroeder to help write the script for the Frozen sequel together with Jennifer Lee, the film's co-director. Though Lee will remain the primary writer of Frozen 2, she'll be now collaborating with Schroeder on the script for the film.

Though some might be considered that this means that there's trouble in production, Frozen 2's release date is more than a year away from now, meaning that Disney simply wants a fresh set of hands to help write the script for the film. After all, two is better than one.

Other than the addition of Schroeder, there have been very few updates regarding the production of Frozen 2. All fans know at the time being is that the plot of the Frozen sequel centers around the original movie's three human leads, Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff. Other actors like Sterling K. Brown and Evan Rachel Wood have been added to the film's cast, and rumor has it that the Westworld star Rachel Wood might be playing Elsa's love interest. There's no confirmation yet though, so we'll have to wait and see.

Frozen 2 is set for release on November 29, 2019.
