I think we can all agree that the House of Mouse's own streaming service Disney+ proved to be a true game-changer and while it's still far behind Netflix in terms of subscriber count, the platform is slowly gaining a massive following worldwide and it won't be long until it reaches Netflix's level.

Originally intended to include just family-friendly content, Disney+ is making the bold decision to feature edgier content and today, the streaming service just included Fox's Marvel films Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and Logan to its growing library, effectively making them the first R-rated films on the platform.

Naturally, fans of the Marvel film franchise are ecstatic about the news because most of their favorites (excluding some Spider-Man films) are finally in one place. However, the Parents Television and Media Council (PTC) isn't thrilled with Disney's decision to break its initial promise that R-rated flicks won't stay anywhere near Disney+.

PTC President Tim Winter released a statement (via ComicBook) following the release of the said films, saying it violates what Disney+ promised its consumers during its November 2019 launch. He said: "Three years ago, the Walt Disney Company made a promise to families: No R-rated movies on Disney+, they said. It's a family-focused platform, they said. We have Hulu for our edgier adult fare, they said. It turns out they were lying to us."

He added: "After decades of corporate brilliance establishing itself as the world's most trusted brand for families, today's C-level suite at Disney has decided to flush it all down the toilet."

It's worth noting that Disney+ features a parental control function which allows parents to block movies and TV shows depending on the content ratings provided by Disney's Plus rating system so I don't see any problem should they include more mature content in the future. At the end of the day, parents should always make it a point to observe what media their children are consuming.

Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and Logan are now streaming on Disney+.
