Black Widow pushes through in theaters in May as confirmed by The Walt Disney Company Chief Executive Officer Bob Chapek in the recent The Walt Disney Company's 2021 Annual Meeting of Shareholders held last March 9, 2021.

Various speculations going around the release of Black Widow in theaters as to whether the release date would be moved again. The ongoing global pandemic surely affected the plans of basically everyone as if the whole world was put to a halt. This is no different to big names in the industry like Marvel. Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was supposed to be in 2020 with Black Widow as the first to open the phase.

Instead, 2020 was a blank for Marvel Studios making the whole Phase 4 shift in its timeline, and all are jammed into 2021. Black Widow had to take a backseat and WandaVision opened Phase 4 instead, releasing the series through Disney+ and gracing the TV screens as the first Marvel limited series to appear on the said streaming platform.

It was a success, though, WandaVision delivered, and the upcoming The Falcon And The Winter Soldier continues to beat its drums keeping the name of Marvel going. Still, the films of Marvel Studios are facing some derailment of plans. The first in line is Black Widow.

With the debut of the film set on May 7, 2021, Disney and Marvel have since been firm that the belle of the Avengers' solo film, Black Widow, will be released in theaters. This is as part of the efforts of Disney to uplift the theater industry as it is one of the greatly affected industries due to the pandemic closing down movie theaters as part of the efforts in battling the coronavirus.

In The Walt Disney Company's 2021 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, Disney's CEO himself, Bob Chapek, stated that Black Widow is "currently set for release in theaters," even teasing the fans that the film is worth the wait and that it is absolutely fantastic.

While there is still a chance of a sudden change in plans because the pandemic seems to be a fluctuation of events with one day, we're okay, the next day, the cases are spiking and there's a new variant, for now, it is safe to say that Black Widow will be released on theaters.

Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Black Widow and will return in theaters on May 7, 2021.
