Disney CEO Doesn’t Think Martin Scorsese has Ever Seen a Marvel Movie

Martin Scorsese caused quite a ruckus when he decided to open up and reveal that he's never really considered Marvel movies as "cinema." Marvel stars and directors like Natalie Portman, Taika Waititi, Robert Downey Jr, Joss Whedon, and James Gunn came to defend the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Meanwhile, filmmakers like Francis Ford Coppola and Hollywood celebrities like Jennifer Aniston decided to share their own opinions about the MCU, echoing Scorsese's original comments.

Now, it looks like Disney CEO Bob Iger has decided to add to his stance in defence of Marvel movies. Speaking in a radio interview with BBC (via Variety), Iger made a jab at the critically-acclaimed director, saying that he doesn't really think that the Taxi Driver filmmaker has "ever seen a Marvel movie."

"Anyone who has seen a Marvel movie could not in all truth make that statement," the Disney executive reasoned.

"They are good movies, good directors, and good writers and good actors, good cinematographers, and good costume designers, and good sound engineers and good editors," Iger continued.

The Disney CEO's response shouldn't come as a surprise. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has by far been one of Disney's most successful investment, producing commercial and critical successes like Avengers: Endgame, Avenges: Infinity War, and Black Panther.

Right now Disney is pushing for Endgame at next year's Oscars, posting the film on its For Your Consideration page. The Mickey Mouse House is pushing the film for awards categories that include Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Sound, and a whole lot of other technical categories.

Avengers: Endgame is currently available on Digital HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
