Disabled Boy Creates A Sci-Fi World To Escape Harsh Reality in Amazing Short 'James'

James is an incredible and emotional short that centers on a disabled young boy who's also having a distressed family life, and on top of that, he's also being bullied in school. To help him cope with his harsh reality, he creates a fantasy and science fiction world in his mind, and imagines himself as the cool robot of his imagination to fight his enemies in school. The film was directed by Kyle McCauley back in 2012, and was completed over the course of two years. The result is a great short that delivers a fantastic story about dealing with the struggles of life and the power of imagination. The young actor's performance is impressive, the visual effects are cool, and the story is so emotionally powerful, I almost cried. Watch the awesome short below:

Here's the official description:

James is the story of an 11-year-old by with a degenerative bone disease called, Legg-Perthes Disease. Like most degenerative bone diseases, Legg-Perthes is expensive to treat and especially when one of your parents has lost her job and the other has no health insurance.
It's also bad news if you want to blend in at school or potentially avoid bullying because you have to wear obtrusive leg braces as part of the treatment.
The disease does provide James with a lot of time alone to imagine and create a world for himself. A world he thinks can solve the problems of his family. A world where his braces become battle armor and his action figures talk back to him. And he fights aliens...and can fly into space.
