Director Confirms that Godzilla: King of Monsters is Officially Finished

One of the best trailers of the year belongs to Godzilla: King of Monsters and the film is set to come out next year. As confirmed by Mike Dougherty himself, the movie is officially through with post-production; now all we have to do is wait for May.

Check out the announcement:

Though the first Godzilla did look amazing, there was a lot of criticism that was thrown at it that didn't make the film the hit that it could have been. For one, all the human characters (save for Bryan Cranston) were actually pretty bland; and Godzilla was going up against some unknown MUTOs that nobody cared about.

It was also director Gareth Edwards' choice to have the main action scene happen in the end, with the rest of the movie only teasers of fights between Godzilla and the other Kaiju. Some people actually liked the choice, but I was part of the camp that felt we didn't get enough action with the movie.

With King of Monsters, it looks like Legendary is slowly getting their stride when it comes to the treatment of their Monsterverse. We have Godzilla going up against the likes of Ghidorah and Rodan, and it hasn't been confirmed, but it's likely that Mothra will be fighting for the good guys.

Not to mention that fantastic trailer.

"In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity's fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans' origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever."

Catch Godzilla: King of Monsters in theaters May 31, 2019.
