Did Netflix Delete User Reviews Due to the Bad Ratings of Original Programs?

Netflix had just recently deleted all of its user reviews from the site, with the reason that no one was really using the it on the actual platform. What's interesting is, it's possible that the true reason that Netflix removed them was because of the constant bad reviews of the original content coming in.

According to streaming side Cordcutting (via The Daily Dot), an increased number of Netflix originals has led to a visible decrease in quality of the shows. The number of originals had peaked last year, but it saw a 24 percent drop come 2018.

The Daily Dot also reached out to Netflix for comment, and the streaming service had this to say:

"We removed the ability to read and write reviews in the last month. This feature was only offered on the website and it was removed because the feature had seen declining usage over time."

Though the official reason for the user reviews being removed seems feasible, the timing is no less suspicious. Though original shows like House of Cards and BoJack Horsman have been getting fantastic reviews, other films like Bright, Annihilation, and 13 Reasons Why have been getting mixed reception from viewers. Let's also not forget the trainwreck that was Netflix's Death Note adaptation.

If anything, it looks like Netflix is starting to get more careful about their original content films. It's more about quality over quantity, Netflix.
