Dominic Monaghan is best known for his work on Lord of the Rings and Lost, but he's now working with J.J. Abrams in Star Wars Episode IX. We still have no details on who Monaghan is playing in the film, but it looks like he shared a photo from the set on Instagram.

To be honest, I have no idea if this is actually from the set, but the icy terrain could be a stand in for a different planet. After Starkiller Base and Crait, you'd think that the sequel trilogy would be done with these ‘snowy' planets. Then again, Monaghan could just be sharing a photo from something else that he's doing.
With rumors going around that Matt Smith will be playing someone working for the First Order, I'm guessing that Monaghan is going to be someone on the side of the Resistance. Then again, he could be another non-partisan of the war much like Benecio del Toro's DJ.
For now, Episode IX is still filming, and we may not get our first look until next year. With shows like Star Wars: The Mandalorian in the works as well as the upcoming theme park, Galaxy's Edge, Lucasfilm will have to be careful about marketing everything just right.
We don't want a repeat of Solo: A Star Wars Story; a pretty good film that was just lost in the promotion. People are still demanding that Lucasfilm announces a sequel.
