Detective Pikachu Will Include Various Generations of Pokemon

We've been getting animated Pokemon stories for years, but 2019 will bring us the first live-action Pokemon movie with Detective Pikachu. A lot of people are curious on what kind of Pokemon will make it to the game, and director Rob Letterman confirms that the film will include Pokemon from several generations.

IGN writes that though Letterman does have a soft spot for Generation I Pokemon, the movie will still have a ‘good spread' of Pokemon from old and new generations.

So far, we haven't been able to see any official photos of the Pokemon from the movie, but it has been said that they will be making them look photo-realistic—much like Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy.

Detective Pikachu is looking at a release early next year, so we should expect our first teaser to arrive sometime before 2018 ends. The cast of the movie includes the likes of Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton, but the biggest name in the roster is no doubt Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some secret cameo that we didn't get any news about.

Detective Pikachu is aiming for a release on May 10, 2019.
