Detective Pikachu: Set Photos Reveal First Look At The Movie's Pokemon

The Detective Pikachu movie is happening, no matter how silly the concept sounds. Having a Pikachu voiced by Ryan Reynolds sounds ridiculous, although the film does have a solid writing duo in Alex Hirsch and Nicole Perlman. One thing fans have been curious about - aside from the film's quality - is how the Pokemon will look in the movie.

Recent set photos taken by Howard Bud have shown some of the locations for the film. These locations have posters of several Pokemon in them, giving us our first look at some of the film's monsters. We get to see our first look at Pancham, Machoke, and Graveler, who looks like a CGI version of his Red and Blue character sprite.

A giant version of the police station's badge - called the Ryme City Police Department (RCPD) - shows two officers and a Victini standing between them. Oddly enough, the one Pokemon we don't see is Pikachu. Legendary is probably saving the lead's reveal for a trailer, though it will likely look similar to the character's design in the 3DS game.

Detective Pikachu arrives in theaters on May 10, 2019.
