Denis Lawson To Reprise His Role As Wedge Antilles In Rise Of Skywalker

Nearing the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, information regarding the movie is slowly getting out. Fans expect J.J. Abrams to make a smooth transition for the trilogy for it to have a conclusion that could answer the fans' numerous queries.

Although most of its plot is kept under wraps, a fan-favorite character is said to have reprised his role for the movie.

The Rebel Force Radio recently posted a tweet saying that Denis Lawson will be reprising his role as Wedge Antilles in the Rise of Skywalker. You can check out the tweet below:

Wedge was a side character in the original trilogy. The character first appeared in A New Hope which was actually originally played by Colin Higgins. However, the actor struggled to memorize his lines which resulted in Lawson filming the remainder of the scenes.

Lawson then continued to play the character in the following movies until The Empire Strikes Back. Wedge's character also showed up in Star Wars Rebels. Wedge was a fan-favorite because he was one of the very few people who helped with destroying the second Death Star.

Prior to the tweet regarding Lawson reprising his role, Planeta Cómic actually posted a cover art on Twitter for Resistance Reborn. Which, to the fans' surprise, had Lawson in it. He is seen standing behind Finn. However, the post was suddenly deleted by the account.

With that said, this report hasn't been confirmed yet since there's no official announcement from Lawson himself or the company. However, fans are ecstatic to see Lawson's potential comeback in Abrams' movie.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres on December 20, 2019.
