Demon Slayer Season 2 Episode 9 Recap
Tengen tells them not to attract too much attention and refrain from looking flashy. He explains to the three of them that they must go undercover in various houses to search for his three wives — Suma, Makio, and Hinatsuru. Tengen's wives went undercover to gather more information regarding the demon residing in the Entertainment District. However, their communications have been cut, so Tengen needs to go into the scene as well. Zenitsu doesn't believe that Tengen has three wives, resulting in him getting a beating from the Sound Hashira.
Tanjiro gets taken by the Tokito House, disguised as a girl named Sumiko. Meanwhile, Inosuke gets taken by the Ogimoto House as a girl named Inoko. This leaves Zenitsu with Tengen. Tengen drops him off at the Kyogoku House, where he became Zenko, a gifted shamisen player. The people at the Tokito House were initially annoyed with Tanjiro's scar after they took off his make-up, but he made up for it by being hardworking. Eventually, he overhears someone mentioning rumors about Suma committing Ashinuke, which means running away from the job to avoid paying debts. He asks the Oiran about Suma, and he ends up pretending to be Suma's younger sister to get some answers.
Tengen continues to observe around the area. He then realizes that an Upper Rank demon might be residing nearby. Meanwhile, at the Ogimoto House, the women are so proud to have gotten Inosuke after taking off his make-up. Tengen told him not to speak at all because they would immediately figure out that he's a boy if he speaks. While working, Inosuke overhears two people in the house talking about Makio and how she's been feeling unwell. Inosuke decides to check out the area leading to Makio's room to investigate. A voice keeps asking Makio who she is, and it is then shown that she's being held captive in her room.
