Demon Slayer Delays Rengoku Birthday Celebration Due to COVID-19

The one and only Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku will be a year older on Monday but it looks like Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba fans will not be able to celebrate his birthday properly. A highly anticipated event for the Pillar had to be delayed due to COVID-19.

The official Demon Slayer site posted an announcement regarding the event. Rengoku's birthday and the release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train were supposed to be celebrated on May 10. Event attendees were set to receive A5 cards drawn by ufotable. Unfortunately, this is no longer happening due to COVID-19.

This would have been an excellent way to celebrated Rengoku, who plays a major role in Mugen Train. Although the Flame Pillar was only introduced in the last few episodes of the anime's first season, he becomes an important ally to Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke in the Demon Slayer movie.

Mugen Train was actually released in Japan in October 2020 but the film just got its US premiere in April this year. Since then, the Demon Slayer movie has achieved so much, becoming the top-grossing anime film in cinematic history, defeating long-time champion Spirited Away. The movie also became one of the top films in the domestic box office.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train is still screening in theaters in the US. The follow-up to the film will be Kimetsu no Yaiba – Yukaku-hen, which serves as the second season of the anime.

Demon Slayer Season 2 has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
