The Jonas Brothers surprised their fans during the kickoff of their Jonas20: Greetings From Your Hometown Tour at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on Sunday night when they welcomed Demi Lovato on stage for an epic—and unexpected—Camp Rock reunion after nearly 20 years.

The pop-rock band, composed of Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas, starred in the 2008 Disney Channel original movie Camp Rock and its sequel, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, alongside Lovato.

In fact, Joe and Lovato even had a relationship back then. So, what happened during their reunion?

Did Demi Lovato Attend Jonas Brothers’ Kickoff Concert Tour?

The Jonas Brothers kicked off their concert tour with the surprise appearance of Demi Lovato.

Joe first started singing “Gotta Find You” from Camp Rock before the siblings introduced the 32-year-old actress to the crowd, sparking a huge round of applause.

They then sang songs from the movie, including “This Is Me” and “Wouldn’t Change a Thing” from the sequel.

Joe told the audience that it had been “almost 10 years” since they performed the tracks together, which Lovato tried to correct by saying it “might have been longer.”

Of course, the former couple marked their reunion by hanging out backstage and posting some clips on social media.

They even made a video lip-syncing to “Wouldn’t Change a Thing” and fellow Disney alum Debby Ryan’s viral speech, “Sat Down with the President of Disney Channel.”

“For the history books @joejonas,” she captioned her post on Instagram.

As expected, several fans celebrated the unexpected get-together, with many expressing their excitement in the comments section of Lovato’s post.

“Seeing this video is one of the greatest moments of my life,” Instagram user mathewturner commented.

“I’m gagged, I’m sat, and I am in awe,” Monica Mamudo added.

Joe and Lovato first met on the set of Camp Rock in 2007 but didn’t start dating until 2010. While their relationship was short-lived, it made a huge cultural impact at the time, as they were icons of their generation.

They first confirmed their romance in an interview with Access Hollywood in March 2010. However, less than two months later, they decided to part ways after Teen Vogue published their joint magazine cover in June of the same year.

“When I met Demi, I knew right away that our friendship was really strong. I don’t want to lose that ever,” Joe explained in a talk with Teen Vogue.

Lovato, on the other hand, spoke about the breakup on ABC’s Nightline News in 2013.

“We were in a relationship and we broke up, and at one point, I was really mad at him,” she said. “Now, I can, fortunately, say that he and his brother Nick have always been there for me and are literally family, like brothers. We have a great friendship. And we may not be as close as we used to be, but that's okay.”

Evidently, given the closeness they have shown on stage, they have maintained a good friendship even apart, and many Camp Rock fans are happy to know that.
