Deadline recently reported that Greg Mottola is being eyed to direct the Deathstroke and Bane DCU movie in development at DC Studios.

There are also other filmmakers in the mix, but the report did not reveal which names are also being considered to potentially helm the highly anticipated project.

If Mottola ends up directing the movie, it won't be his first time being part of the DCU circle since he previously directed episodes of the second season of Peacemaker. He is also known for directing movies such as Superbad and Adventureland.

However, it should be noted that the project is still in early development, and the script has not been finished yet at this point, so don't expect any casting announcement anytime soon.

In case you're not familiar with the characters, Deathstroke the Terminator debuted in 1980 in The New Teen Titans #2. A former U.S. Army soldier enhanced by a supersoldier serum, he operates as a lethal mercenary with heightened physical and tactical abilities. Over his storied career, he has evolved into a premier DC antagonist, famously clashing with the Teen Titans, Batman, and the Justice League.

As for Bane, he debuted in the comics Batman: Vengeance of Bane #1 (1993). Born into the brutal Peña Duro prison and subjected to an experimental super-steroid, the son of King Snake eventually escaped his Caribbean confinement to seek out Gotham’s protector. His arrival culminated in the legendary "Knightfall" arc, where he solidified his legacy by infamously breaking Batman’s back.

What's Next in the DCU Franchise

The next DCU movie is Supergirl, which is set to release in theaters on June 26. It is the second theatrical project in the franchise, following last year's Superman.

In the upcoming film, when an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice.

They are also working on other upcoming films, such as Clayface and Man of Tomorrow. On the television side, they are working on Lanterns, which will release on HBO this August.
