Deadpool Star Ryan Reynolds Gives X-Force Movie Updates

Deadpool 2's going to introduce 20th Century Fox's cinematic version of the X-Force when it premieres later this weekend. Now, Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds has a new update about the studio's X-Force movie.

Speaking with Collider about Drew Goddard's upcoming X-Men spinoff, Reynolds reveals some of the plans the studio has for X-Force. Not only is the Merc with a Mouth actor excited to see what Deadpool might be like with an ensemble, he's also excited to see a couple of new characters in the X-Force movie.

"I just wanna work with Drew," Reynolds said during the interview with the publication. "I mean, I love him and he has such an interesting take on where he wants to take that world. I see it being a real ensemble on a lot of levels just because I think it's interesting for Deadpool to kinda function in the way he does in his own universe. You always get to sort of find some way to position him as the underdog or take everything away from him, but for him to function in an ensemble [in X-Force] is a lot of fun. I think there's a real opportunity to not burden the narrative by shattering Wade's life, so then at the beginning our movie you get to have him just be part of the team, which is obviously a very challenging prospect for someone like Wade Wilson. So, I'm really excited about that. I'm excited about a couple new characters that we're talking about. And I'm really especially excited to work with Drew. He's just amazing."

For those who aren't familiar with Goddard's work, the director is best known for helming the horror film Cabin in the Woods as well as creating Marvel TV's Daredevil series at Netflix. Goddard is currently working on the thriller Bad Times at eh El Royale.

Because he's been busy working on the thriller, work on the X-Force spinoff hasn't begun just yet. Though Reynolds says that the film already has a storyline that "everyone's happy with" there still isn't a script for the film. Reynolds also isn't quite sure whether the film would be R-Rated like Deadpool or Deadpool 2, saying that the team's still working on the story.

It's definitely exciting thinking about Fox's X-Force movie but we'll just have to wait and see what happens after Deadpool 2.

Deadpool 2 premieres on May 18.
