Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy recently revealed that they never considered Professor X as one of the movie's major cameos.
The MCU film notably brought back several of the actors from past Marvel movies to the delight of many fans. For months, there have been speculations on which Fox-era characters might make surprise appearances.
However, one of the characters who failed to make the roster is Professor X, who has been speculated to show up in the film considering that his twin sister Cassandra Nova serves as the main antagonist.
Deadpool & Wolverine Did Not Consider Professor X for Cameo
In a recent interview, Levy was asked whether they considered Professor X as one of the major cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine.
He confirmed that the fan-favorite character was never in consideration. However, Emma Corrin, who plays Cassandra Nova, took inspiration from him when preparing for the role.
"Never even discussed. [He was] studied. Studied by Emma Corrin, big time, because the Cassandra siblinghood to Professor X is really interesting to us. But, no, never discussed. Never considered," the director said.
While it might be disappointing for some fans that Professor X was never considered for the film, it also just shows that Levy and Ryan Reynolds were not relying too much on the star powers of the cameos. They only chose the characters that would make sense in the story.
After all, Cassandra Nova's presence is already a representation of Professor X in the film and he was namedropped a couple of times due to their familial connection.
There is also a possibility that Marvel Studios might be saving him and the other X-Men characters in an upcoming film such as Avengers: Secret Wars where they can go all the way with the multiversal cameos.
Deadpool & Wolverine is showing in theaters everywhere.
