It goes without saying that some actors don't want to be typecast in a role but Robert Downey Jr. has fully embraced the fact that he will be Tony Stark/Iron Man to a lot of people, myself included. This is why it's hard to imagine the 57-year-old star taking on a different role without thinking of his MCU legacy.

Rumors have been floating around as of late that Downey will eventually make his return to the Marvel realm in 2026 via Avengers: Secret Wars. While that's music to a lot of Marvel fans' ears, some are convinced that RDJ should jump ship to the "new" DC Universe, especially after learning that he has undergone a drastic change in appearance.

Robert shocked the world after showing up at an event rocking a clean-shaven head. For years, RDJ has sported his trademark medium-length hairstyle and iconic facial hair which is often associated with his Tony Stark character. Now that he's apparently trying out a new look, Downey is being fan-cast as the DCU's Lex Luthor and many believe he'd be a much better Lex than Jesse Eisenberg. Check out some of the reactions below:

These days, RDJ is busy seeking other opportunities in Hollywood and while the idea of him jumping ship from the MCU to the DCU sounds truly intriguing, the chances of it happening are quite slim. I mean, I'd like to think that despite his MCU exit, his loyalty will remain with Marvel. It's worth mentioning though that one of Downey's most recent projects is a series adaptation of a beloved DC comic so I guess you can never say never.

As it stands, James Gunn and Peter Safran's future plans for the DCU have not been disclosed.
