Robert Downey Jr. has been away from the spotlight after his Marvel Cinematic Universe exit in 2019 and while the Iron Man star's acting career has seemingly taken a back seat, making way for his other ventures inside and outside Hollywood, RDJ is still being seen making sporadic appearances on various events. The actor also updates his fans from time to time through social media.
Speaking of appearances, Downey shocked the world when he showed up at the recent Governors Awards looking quite... different. It turns out that the 57-year-old actor has ditched the trademark look he has sported for years to rock a clean-shaven head. He even got rid of his Tony Stark-esque facial hair and we have to say, it's definitely a look that will take quite some time to get used to. To be fair though, I think he pulls it off pretty nicely. Meanwhile, there have been rumors circulating all over the internet that RDJ will make his triumphant return to the MCU to close out the Multiverse Saga. According to several insiders, Kevin Feige is planning to bring back almost every actor from past and present Marvel films (including ones that didn't take place in the "main" MCU continuity) in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Now, we don't know for sure which iteration of Tony Stark it would be. Obviously, it's safe to assume that it will be his multiversal variant but the chances of Earth-616 Tony actually being resurrected isn't exactly out of the question.
Avengers: Secret Wars is set to hit cinemas on May 1, 2026.
