Henry Cavill's official departure from the DC Universe is still a hard pill to swallow for a lot of people, especially considering how everything went down. As frustrating as it is, I think we can all agree that it's time to look into the future and explore the possibilities under James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DCU.

The DC Studios co-heads have made it clear from the get-go that the Man of Steel will be a top priority in the franchise. In fact, Gunn himself already confirmed that he's writing the next Superman film which according to him will explore Clark Kent's early days as a correspondent on the Daily Planet.

Naturally, this led to speculation that Gunn is looking to cast a much younger actor for the role which makes logical sense, especially with the studio's long-term plans. Since Cavill's exit, several fan castings have surfaced on social media but one name seems to be a favorite amongst DCU diehards and that is rising actor David Corenswet who's been involved in a number of Netflix projects, including Hollywood and The Politician.

Instagram artist @bobby_art's magnificent piece pretty much proves that the 29-year-old actor would be the perfect casting choice as the next Superman. He even gave him a classic treatment which totally works. Check it out here:

As it stands, DC Studios has yet to unveil its first slate of films and despite all of the uncertainty, we're hopeful that Gunn and Safran's vision for the franchise will reward fans.

Meanwhile, in other DCU news, the franchise's next film Shazam! Fury of the Gods is scheduled for release on March 17, 2023.
