DC's Birds of Prey Has Been Delayed, Will Now be a Mature Black Label Series

With Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) coming out next February, DC would be crazy to not release a comic book of the same name to capitalize on the momentum. Originally, they announced a new series from writer Brian Azzarello that would take place in the DC universe while also having the same team from the film. However, plans have changed and the upcoming Birds of Prey comic is now being repackaged as a mature Black label title, resulting in a delay.

Originally announced for October, the new Birds of Prey comic has now been delayed with no release date yet. Since the movie is coming out next February, there's a good chance that we are going to see the comic released in January for a head start. It could also be February for more synergy but this is all speculation until something concrete is announced.

It will be interesting to see if this will still be set in the main DC universe or if the comic will have its own continuity, like most of the DC Black Label titles. Judging from the cover above, it seems to be in the DC Universe we know and love but things could always change. Either way, it's nice to see a Black Label comic that doesn't focus on Batman or Superman, though Harley Quinn is just as guilty of getting these comics.

Anyone here like Brian Azzarello as a writer? Will you be picking up Birds of Prey whenever it launches? Let us know in the comments below.
