After months of waiting, DC Universe has finally announced the Stargirl release date we've all been waiting for. Fans of the DC streaming service will be able to catch the first episode on May 11, with new episodes coming out every Monday. Those that like to watch their DC content on The CW will be able to watch it the day after on May 12 as part of a deal between the two companies.
While still a few months away, this is the news many fans have been waiting for. As if having it on DC Universe and The CW wasn't enough, Variety has confirmed that Stargirl will also be streamable on The CW's various streaming platforms. That's a lot of options to view this show, which should be commended since most streaming services would rather selfishly hoard their programs.
The series has a lot of fans' attention since the series is going to heavily reference the Justice Society of America. In fact, the classic superhero group is expected to appear a number of times and it's going to be awesome seeing some of these obscure heroes on the small screen. While I doubt that we'll be seeing The Flash (Jay Garrick) or Green Lantern (Alan Scott), we're more than fine seeing who else appears.
Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) as she moves to Blue Valley, Nebraska after her mother remarries Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson). There, she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. It also stars Amy Smart, Trae Romano, Cameron Gellman, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington, Meg DeLacy, Neil Jackson, Jake Austin Walker, Christopher James Baker, and Hunter Sansone.
DC Universe will stream Stargirl on May 11, while The CW will air episodes a day after, starting on May 12.
