DC Reportedly Developing Hawkman Movie With Muslim Actor Playing Lead Role

Sure there might be a lot of hype going around for DC's Shazam! but we still don't know much what Warner Brothers has planned for Black Adam. There hasn't been that much news about the character so far, however, word broke out earlier this week that the DC Extended Universe's Black Adam movie would make way for the appearances of other interesting DC characters, including Star Girl, Atom Smasher, and Hawkman.

Now, according to a report by We Got This Covered, sources say that Warner Brothers is currently developing a Hawkman standalone movie, eyeing a Muslim actor (who hasn't been named) between the ages 30 to 39 for the lead role of the project. Not only that, but this film will also feature Hawkgirl, another popular DC character who's played a major role in the Justice League animated series.

Here's how the film was described to the site:

"Part INDIANA JONES/DA VINCI CODE, part GHOST tentpole about the fictional superhero that appears in D.C. Comic books. He used archaic weaponry and large, artificial wings attached to a harness made of the Nth metal that allows flight. Most incarnations of Hawkman work closely with a partner/romantic interest named Hawkgirl or Hawkwoman in his fight against supervillains. Based on the DC comic."

While we would advise fans to take this report with a grain of salt, it'd be definitely interesting to see a Hawkman movie on the big screen. Both characters are long-serving members of the Justice League and at one point there had been speculation that the two might have appeared in Zack Snyder's Justice League movie.

Let's just wait and see whether Warner Brothers makes an official confirmation soon.

Shazam! premieres April 5, 2019.
