The history of Boba Fett is understandably complicated considering that half of the Star Wars fandom loved him while the other half thought he was overrated. However, it looks like the general consensus for Boba has changed ever since he showed up in the premiere episode of The Mandalorian Season 2. So now that Boba is an established bad-ass, Dave Filoni credits Temuera Morrison for the improved opinion about the character.
It's no surprise that Morrison was brought in to play Boba in The Mandalorian Season 2. After all, Boba is a clone of Jango Fett, who Morrison played in the Star Wars prequel trilogy films. Nevertheless, that hasn't stopped Filoni from gushing about the Aquaman actor.
"He's priceless. He's immeasurable. He is the exact person for that role," Filoni told the Star Wars Show. "He's got the armor, and we used it."
Filoni also pointed out that getting Boba to tear into a group of Stormtroopers in Chapter 14: The Tragedy was important for the character. "Finally, the story in that moment is about him, so he should do all those things," he said. In addition to that, Filoni explained that Boba only had a small role in the original trilogy movies but things have changed since then.
"In the old films, he's a player in it, but it's not about him," he said. "And I love it when he says, 'I don't want your armor, I want my armor.' You're just like, 'Wow! It's Boba Fett claiming his armor back!'"
The appearance in The Mandalorian Season 2 is just the beginning considering that Morrison is set to appear in The Book of Boba Fett, which could be the next season of The Mandalorian or an actual spin-off series focusing on the character. In addition to that, there have been reports that Morrison will play Commander Cody in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
