Dave Bautista Joins Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead

Zack Snyder may have turned his back on the DCEU, but he's finally working again, partnering up with Netflix for a zombie movie called Army of the Dead. What's cool is, he's cast someone from the Marvel camp to star in the film.

According to Deadline, Guardians of the Galaxy's Dave Bautista has been cast in Army of the Dead. We don't know who he's playing yet, but with the film centered on a bunch of mercenaries, I bet Bautista is going to be playing one of them. I don't really expect him to be the lead, but Bautista does make for a fun character actor.

This is the description for the film:

Army of the Dead is set amid a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, during which a man assembles a group of mercenaries to take the ultimate gamble: venturing into the quarantined zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.

It's great that Bautista should be working with Snyder this time, considering that he's actually worked with a bunch of huge franchises over the course of his career. Besides working on Guardians of the Galaxy, Bautista has also appeared as the "head goon" Hinx. He also had a small role in Blade Runner 2049 and is set to make an appearance in Denis Villenueve's Dune adaptation.

Hopefully this film with Snyder will open more doors for Bautista in the future. It's been said that he's been wanted for a role in James Gunn's Suicide Squad. Nothing has been announced yet, but I could very well imagine Bautista moving on to that franchise while waiting for GOTG 3 to start shooting.

No release date has been set for Army of the Dead, but you can probably catch Bautista in Avengers: Endgame which comes out April 26.
