Dark Crystal Age of Resistance: BTS Featurette Returns Us to Thra

Netflix had brought back Invader Zim and Rocko's Modern Life this month, but by the end, we're also getting the prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. The film has a star-studded cast, and a new featurette gives us a small look at them from Simon Pegg to Natalie Dormer.

It's time to return to Thra. Watch the cast and creators discuss returning to Jim Henson's creation almost 40 years later and getting the chance to expand and enrich this already beloved world.

Though CGI is currently dominating the box office right now, I think it's pretty cool how Age of Resistance is sticking close to the original what with the puppetry and practical sets. The show will still be using CGI to enhance some elements of the series, but for the main part, we're going to be getting classic creatures that the Jim Henson Company is best known for.

Not to mention, the series has managed to gather quite the impressive cast to voice characters. The main gelflings are going to be voiced by Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Nathalie Emmanuel, but we're also going to be hearing the voice talents of Lena Headey, Sigourney Weaver, Andy Samberg, Helena Bonham Carter, and even Mark Hamill—and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

The world of Thra is dying. The Crystal of Truth is at the heart of Thra, a source of untold power. But it is damaged, corrupted by the evil Skeksis, and a sickness spreads across the land. When three Gelfling uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, an adventure unfolds as the fires of rebellion are lit and an epic battle for the planet begins.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is set to premiere on Netflix on Aug. 30.
