Daredevil Star Vincent D’Onofrio Would Like Joker-Style Kingpin Movie

Marvel may not seem to have any concrete plans to revive the cancelled Marvel Netflix Daredevil series, however, actor Vincent D'Onofrio wouldn't mind to see The Kingpin get his own solo movie someday, and it seems like he'd like it ala Joker.

Speaking in an interview with ComicBook.com for an impromptu tour of his home office over Zoom, D'Onofrio got to talking about his art and inspirations. During the discussion, the Daredevil star decided to show off a piece he had commissioned legendary comics artist David Mack, and to the surprise of the host, the picture wasn't any Marvel character but instead Joaquin Phoenix's Oscar-winning rendition of DC's Joker.

ComicBook.com then asked the Marvel star whether he'd like to star in a Kingpin movie with the same gritty treatment as Joker. D'Onofrio was keen on the idea.

"Yeah, I mean, I think that'd be awesome," D'Onofrio said in response.

The entertainment news outlet then decided to cut down the question, asking the Marvel star whether he'd like to see an R-Rated Kingpin movie.

"I think there's more to do with him, but you just never know it's [Marvel] such an intense company," the actor added, "Because when I think of Marvel, I think of so many storylines, it's like you think of DC, it's the same thing. There are so many stories. I can't imagine being in that chair trying to figure out which ones are the ones to be told next. And that's how I look at it, as a creative person. I see it much bigger than just my part. I just see it as these huge opportunities."

D'Onofrio's take on Kingpin was pretty well-liked. Given the character's backstory and history, we're sure that a serious R-rated treatment would work for the character.
