Daniel Craig Shuts Down Doctor Strange 2 Cameo Rumor

Ex-James Bond actor Daniel Craig was once rumored to appear at the post-credits scene in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as his official debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Craig was rumored to appear as Reed Richards instead of John Krasinski, but a contrasting report pointed out that Craig was supposed to play Balder the Brave.

Speaking with BBC Radio 1, Craig debunks the rumors on supposedly making an appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness where he was speculated to play the role of Thor’s brother, Balder the Brave, who was part of the Illuminati that debuted in the Doctor Strange sequel. To that, Craig merely had one thing to say:

“It’s all a rumor. I mean, I don’t know where these things come from… there’s a lot of lockdown craziness.”

This isn’t the first time Daniel Craig had to respond to alleged castings of him into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, while promoting his upcoming movie, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, he was also asked whether he had really been casted as Balder the Brave and all he said was, “I should be so lucky.”

To be fair, there is no harm in ensuring the actor is not set to be added into the MCU, seeing as the rumor continues to circulate on the internet. However, his direct response to the issue being that “it’s all a rumor” should pretty much sum up what his status of coming into the MCU says, for now.

Unfortunately, we, in fact, did not get to see Balder the Brave in Doctor Strange 2, but there’s a future chance for him to appear in the upcoming phases. In lieu of this, we also won’t be seeing John Krasinski as Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards, but the future MCU projects could potentially make room for him for other roles.

In the meantime, you can catch Daniel Craig in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, arriving on Netflix this coming December 23.
