Daisy Ridley Talks About Rey’s Reaction To Luke Skywalker In The Last Jedi

During the 2017 Star Wars Celebration last weekend, fans were told that Mark Hamill's iconic character Luke Skywalker wouldn't be the same Jedi that they came to love and adore in the original Star Wars Trilogy. The last of the Jedi order, Luke is expected to come off more jaded than ever in The Last Jedi.

This is going to be rather difficult for Daisy Ridley's character, Rey. The young Force Sensitive hero expects a lot from Luke and in an interview with MTV, Ridley reveals that Rey will only find herself let down by Luke's treatment of her.

"There were all these expectations on Luke right from the beginning — this is your calling, this is what you have to do, you have to train. And then clearly something's taken him away," she said. "In a way, they're both similar, but she's very much looking up to him to be this thing that she thinks he is, and a long time's passed."

This rocky relationship between the two is pretty understandable – the last time Luke took on students, one of them betrayed him. Starry-eyed as she is, Rey will definitely have to face certain realities in The Last Jedi and she'll probably have to force Luke to teach her the ways of the Force.

Featuring Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong'o Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Benicio Del Toro, Kelly Marie Tran, and Laura Dern, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is scheduled to debut in cinemas on December 15, 2017.
