Daisy Ridley Reveals How Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Tried To Avoid TLJ Backlash

There is little doubt that the negative reactions to Star Wars: The Last Jedi had a lasting effect on Disney and Lucasfilm. After all, the backlash somehow resulted in the sequel not doing as well as its predecessor. However, it looks like the cast and crew of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker are going out of their way to make sure the same thing doesn't happen to Episode IX. Daisy Ridley has just revealed that certain steps were taken to make sure everything works out smoothly for the final movie in the Skywalker Saga.

Ridley was recently made a guest appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast where she confidently stated that she isn't worried about any backlash when it comes to The Rise of Skywalker.

"I think it's really great, I really do. [Writer] Chris Terrio had Star Wars bibles. He was doing his work. Everything is so linked and it works in the universe. He did proper nerd homework. It felt really good doing it. Everything we did felt really, really good," Ridley said.

First of all, we're wondering where Terrio got the Star Wars bibles so we can get our hands on those as well. Secondly, we're hoping Ridley is right about how Episode IX will turn out.

Ridley also teased that fans are going to enjoy watching the development of Rey and Kylo Ren's story in the sequel.

"I think they've done a great job with all the relationships. With the fun friendships and with the strange thing with Rey and Kylo. We finished Episode 8 and you know where Rey is. It was interesting going in and figuring out where it is going. I think people are going to liiiiike it," she said with a laugh.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres on December 20.
