Daisy Ridley Addresses Rey Heading To The Dark Side In Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars fans have been wondering about Rey's allegiances ever since Lucasfilm rolled out the very first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi back in October.

There have been a lot of questions about whether the Force-sensitive Jakku orphan would join Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and turn to the Dark Side after fans saw Rey asking to be shown her place and turning to the estranged son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) in the preview video.

Appearing on Good Morning America, Ridley was asked whether Rey would really take Kylo Ren's side and join the first order. Though the British actress doesn't really give away spoilers to the movie, it does give some new insight to the conflict of the movie.

"I think the thing about this film is it's not so- the lines are less clear as to 'good and bad,'" said Ridley, "Rey is trying to find out about herself and about the universe. And those questions don't entirely fall to the good, nor do they entirely fall to the bad. She's trying to do her own sort of personal growth."

This gives a lot more weight to the theory that The Force Awakens sequel is going to explore the lines of the "Grey Jedi."

"I think what's amazing is that the end of the film — however that does end — it's more rich. Because if it's always good, the outcome isn't as important as it might be if- you know…" the actress went on to explain.

Though the film might not precisely use the term "Grey Jedi" or "Grey Side Of The Force" when it screens later this December, we're sure that we're going to get a nuanced story when we see The Last Jedi.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas on December 15, 2017.
