On Monday, Netflix has released a new trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the upcoming sci-fi anime series from Studio Trigger (Kill la Kill, Promare) based on CD Projekt Red's popular open-world roleplaying videogame Cyberpunk 2077 and set in the futuristic world of Mike Pondsmith's tabletop RPG Cyberpunk.
The new 10-episode anime series follows David, a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future known as Night City. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner – a mercenary outlaw also known as cyberpunk - after he meets a mysterious hacker named Lucy. He will be fighting Night City's most notorious criminals and cyber-psychods in his mission to become a so-called legend.

The three-minute trailer features a bunch of visual stimuli with shots of various supporting characters, intense action sequences, and the apparent "Corpo" antagonist of the anime, as well as a few spectacular scenes of David utilizing what appears to be the Kerenzikov effect— a cyberware ability from the Cyberpunk 2077 game that allows players to shoot and evade enemy attacks as if they were slowing down time.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi (Kill la Kill, Gurren Lagann, Promare) along with creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi (Kill la Kill), with character designs by Yoh Yoshinari (BNA: Brand New Animal, Little Witch Academia) and an original score composed by Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill series).
