Cyberpunk 2077 Won't Let You Kill Story-Relevant NPCs or Children

Cyberpunk 2077 is coming out next year and is promising fans a lot of things, like plenty of customization, tons of unique quests, and a lot of player freedom with no moral choice meter. However, the developers in CD Projekt Red don't want to let players give in too much to their primal state, announcing an exception to the rule; no killing of children or story-relevant NPCs.

On Reddit, a fan asked the developers what kind of dark shenanigans they can get away with in this massive RPG. The reply given stated that players can kill anyone who isn't a child or an NPC that is important to the game's story. They don't want players to just aimlessly walk around after all so this is probably a good thing.

"You won't be able to attack children or NPCs connected with the plot. But other than that you can be aggressive towards most people you meet."

To be fair, CD Projekt Red isn't the only studio that has enforced this rule. Rockstar Games also made it clear that players couldn't kill any children in Grand Theft Auto V. They even made sure to exclude any child NPCs from previous Grand Theft Auto games to make sure players would not kill any. Honestly, this is fine; no one should want to kill children.

No children will be harmed during anyone's play sessions in Cyberpunk 2077 when it comes out on April 16, 2020, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
