Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Game Could Have Microtransactions

Ever since the Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer was announced, fans have been going crazy over how this version of the game could work. CD Projekt Red is mostly well known for its great single-player games, so knowing that they will work on a big multiplayer project has people buzzing, even if it is coming out after Cyberpunk 2077 itself. The developers have discussed this mode/spin-off recently, hinting that there might be microtransactions.

Oh boy…

The dreaded m-word has been brought up and fans have had a mixed reaction to this. While it seems like the Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer game will be its own entity, rather than an update that most of us were expecting, the company is hoping to monetize wisely, as they are still experimenting with what they can do.

Here's what was said during one of CD Projekt Red's earnings presentations:

"We keep experimenting. It's our first multiplayer game. We check different options and possibilities, and it's definitely not the time to point you to a specific direction on that. But you can expect that we won't change our general policy toward deals with gamers. So expect wise monetization and always value for money."

Honestly, CD Projekt Red adding microtransactions might not be a popular decision, but there are a number of us who are willing to give them the benefit of the doubt due to their other games. Here is hoping that they don't let us down in this regard.

Cyberpunk 2077 is coming out on April 16, 2020.
