Cyberpunk 2077 Copies Arrive Earlier than Expected for Some Players

We're days away from the grand launch of Cyberpunk 2077 and after experiencing several irksome delays over the last couple of months — which even resulted in the game's creators receiving death threats, it looks like there's no stopping the highly-anticipated CD Projekt game from hitting stores on the December 10. However, due to the aforementioned scheduling changes, some copies of the upcoming action-adventure game have apparently been shipped out already and it's posing some serious issues for the folks over at CD Projekt.

Considering we're now in the age of live video streaming, it wouldn't be a shock how the people who were able to score their copies this early would think of doing a little preview of the game before its official launch day and that's what CD Projekt plans to avoid. Taking to Twitter, the official Cyberpunk 2077 account warned fans against streaming of the game to avoid potential spoilers. "We're getting closer and closer to launch and chances are some of you will get your hands on a copy of Cyberpunk 2077 before release day. However difficult this might be for us to achieve, our ambition is for gamers all across the world to have the same spoiler-free experience at the time the game releases."

Adding a splash of humor to their official statement, the game's creators threatened fans that they'll send MAX-TAC (the game's special police force) to handle business for them. "This is why we kindly ask you not to stream/let's play or release any similar content before 9th December, 12 pm CET/3 am PST. We will send MAX-TAC (you know, the guys who take down videos) after everyone who does."

It's safe to assume at this point that players are already enjoying the game (and why shouldn't they) and there's nothing CD Projekt can do about that. Here's to hoping though that the folks who were lucky enough to get their copies this early would refrain from posting spoilers stuff online. I mean, we can enjoy things without being complete jerks, right? To the people who failed to get their advance copies, don't worry, launch day is just around the corner.

Cyberpunk 2077 officially launches on Xbox Series X & S, PlayStation 4 & 5, and PC this December 10.
