Cruella Star Emma Stone Transforms into Harley Quinn in Awesome Image

In case you missed it, Disney finally dropped our first official look at Emma Stone as Cruella de Vil in the upcoming reimagining of the iconic 101 Dalmatians villain, and if you were expecting it to look and feel like its classic animated counterpart, you're in for something entirely different.

Right off the bat, fans noticed the film's dark and depressing tone which reminded them of DC's standalone Joker film starring Joaquin Phoenix which pretty much carries the same gritty elements.

After the trailer dropped, the topics "Disney's Joker" and "Harley Quinn" both trended on Twitter as fans couldn't help but compare Stone's portrayal of the character to the iconic comic book villains from DC Comics, and quite honestly, after seeing the trailer myself, I totally understand why.

The entire debate instantly sparked an idea for digital artist Boss Logic who took to his official Instagram page to give Cruella an even "crazier" makeover. Taking inspiration from Harley's New 52 look from the comics, the Australian artist gave Stone's version of de Vil an even edgier feel to her. I gotta say, I'd take Emma as Harleen Quinnzel any day of the week. Check it out here:

Disney has always had a bad rep for releasing projects that tend to play it safe but to the production company's credit, they can also be bold if they wanted to. What I love about their live-action fairytale films is that they don't entirely follow the source material and instead give them a more contemporary approach, and even though they have been hit-or-miss throughout the years, it's still nice to see Disney think outside the box every once in a while.

Cruella is slated for release on May 28, 2021.
