Frank Grillo's tenure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe started off on a promising note but it ended in premature fashion when his character Brock Rumlow aka Crossbones got killed off in Captain America: Civil War. Since then, the actor has let out his frustrations and even revealed in an interview last March that he wanted nothing to do with Avengers: Endgame where Rumlow and other HYDRA agents appeared in one of the time heist scenes.

Now, a few months following his controversial statement, Grillo is once again expressing his desire to return as Crossbones. In case you didn't know, the actor reprised the role in Marvel Studios' What If...? but that doesn't seem to be enough for the 56-year-old actor who wants to portray the villain in live-action form anew.

Speaking with The Beard and The Bald Movie Podcast, the MCU star reveals that he'd like to get another shot at playing the character. Grillo said: "I gotta tell you, I'm grateful for it, first of all. It's kind of a testament to the power of Marvel. I'm in two movies, basically, two Captain America movies. Crossbones is only in one of those movies, right? And, you would think that, I mean, I was side-by-side with Captain America in the public's eye. Like, they don't see it that way. I love that they keep this alive in some way, shape, or form."

Grillo's previous criticism of Marvel Studios is pretty understandable considering he originally signed a pretty hefty contract and I, for one, believe that the studio did him dirty after his character was written off in Civil War. We don't know what the future holds for sure but honestly, we've seen crazier things happen in the MCU so a Brock Rumlow resurrection doesn't seem too farfetched. Heck, I'd even take a multiverse version of the character to make his return and face-off with the new Captain America Sam Wilson.

Speaking off, Anthony Mackie will return for Captain America 4.
