Crisis: Brandon Routh Reveals If He'll Ever Play Superman Again

There are so many things to be excited about Crisis on Infinite Earths, and among those is the return of Brandon Routh's Superman after thirteen years. Playing the hero in Superman Returns and being included in one of the most ambitious crossovers, would the actor still be open to playing the part again?

In a recent interview with Den of Geek, the actor was asked if he would consider playing Superman again after Crisis. "I approached it as if it was the final time," he said. "That's one of the things I had to get off the phone with Marc [Guggenheim] and consider and think about."

He admitted that if he "continued to leave the door open and keep wanting more," he thinks that he will never be "fulfilled," which isn't a place where he "wanted to leave things." Thus, no matter how much screentime he gets in Crisis or what the story ends up with, he is "grateful" for the opportunity. "I'm going to be okay with whatever this is," he added.

He reiterated that he's "grateful" to be able to play the hero again. "Putting it all out there and being okay with hanging up the cape after that," Routh said. He felt that "the door is closed" and Superman's "unresolved stuff" was already tackled. However, if "the door opened again," Routh says he's "open to it."

"I'm good, I'm at peace with it," the actor continued, "But I am still excited to play the character if another opportunity that is right presents itself."

There you go. It's pretty much evident that Routh is open to playing Superman again in another project, but points out that he'll only do so if he's "at peace" and when the "right" opportunity comes. Needless to say, fans of Routh will surely hope to see the actor play the character again in the near future.

Crisis on Infinite Earths will continue on Tuesday, Jan. 14 with Arrow, followed by DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
