The third part of Crisis on Infinite Earths featured a surprise cameo of Tom Ellis' Lucifer. And although it came as both a surprise and a treat for the fans, they are quite confused as to how the event coincides with Lucifer's, but Ellis provides a breakdown of the scene.

In a recent interview with ET, Ellis revealed that the Lucifer we saw on Crisis isn't exactly the one we saw on Netflix. This is because Crisis took place five years before Lucifer actually started. Ellis says that was his character spending five years in L.A. before meeting the detective, and even before all the other events transpired.

He revealed that the Lucifer in Crisis is in his "proper playboy, don't-give-a-damn-about-anything stage" in life. He claims that his character was "irreverent" with the heroes that showed up in the scene. Lucifer's relationship with Constantine was also teased a bit in his brief cameo, suggesting that there is, indeed, "some history there."

As for lying about appearing in the show, Ellis admits that he was actually in Vancouver for his friend's birthday, and was just being "economical" with the truth. But he also wanted to keep the cameo a secret since he thinks it would be "amazing" for the fans to be surprised in seeing him onscreen in the show.

Well, keeping it a secret did work since a lot of fans were shocked to see him on Crisis, adding a little bit of a different vibe to the show despite his short screentime. Add the fact that Crisis revealed he's from Earth-666, which is a really appropriate name for his character.

Crisis on Infinite Earths will continue on Tuesday, Jan. 14 with Arrow, followed by DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
