Creature Commandos Stars Break Silence on Their DCU Roles

The projects under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe will remain one of the most anticipated offerings, like Creature Commandos until the fans finally get to see what the co-CEOs are cooking up for the franchise.

The ensemble of the animated saga was finally revealed earlier this month, which includes Maria Bakalova and Sean Gunn, and they recently sat down with ComicBook to discuss their DC roles.

Bakalova, who plays a character original to the series named Princess Ilana Rostovic, said in the interview that her DCU role is not like any other portrayal that she has done before.

“I know enough. I'm looking forward to starting the process because it's a completely different character than I've played before, even in feature films, just the type of a character that is written,” said Bakalova. “It's challenging, I think, but I'm dying to dive into it with James because I know he's going to lead me in the best direction possible.”

Meanwhile, Gunn, who’s voicing both GI Robot and Weasel, reasoned that he’s not allowed to give anything away about the animated project, but he assured that he did a job well done.

“I don't know how much I'm allowed to say about Creature Commandos, so I'm not going to say much. But I will say that, yeah, we're going to get to learn a little more,” said the actor.

“I've done a pretty good job by trusting James to know when's a good time for us to work together on stuff and when not to,” said Gunn. “And he always comes to me at the right time, when he knows that I'm the person for the job. So hopefully he'll continue to do that. I'm sure he will.”

No exact plot has been revealed, but Gunn previously confirmed that Creature Commandos will crossover with another series from the Chapter 1 slate, Waller, which is also a spinoff of Peacemaker, along with several other upcoming DCU projects.

Creature Commandos will also star Frank Grillo, David Harbour, Alan Tudyk, Zoe Chao, and Steve Agee. It is set to commence the new DCU, but it has yet to receive a release date.
