Cowboy Bebop Star Eden Perkins Opens Up About Playing Ed in Netflix Series

If you watched the first season of Cowboy Bebop, you're probably relieved that the live-action series gave us an answer to the question "Where's Ed?" Although Radical Ed's debut was more of a cameo, fans were delighted to see that the young actor seemed to be just like the fan-favorite character. Now, Eden Perkins has opened up about being cast as the young hacker and filming with John Cho!

Radical Ed was mentioned in the sixth episode Binary Two-Step but doesn't make an appearance until the season finale. When Spike Spiegel passes out in an alley, he is awakened by Ed, who appears to have found the abandoned Ein as well. She then tells him that she has found a new bounty for him and that they are going after the Butterfly Man aka Vincent Volaju.

It's an awesome cameo but what was it like working on the show? Perkins was featured in the Netflix special Cowboy Bebop: Unlocked where they opened up about filming their scene with Spike Spiegel.

"When I finally got to actually be on set, it was incredible. It was just one night of shooting. It was incredible. The sets are so, so cool and at night it's like a completely different atmosphere. It was very cold, but it was amazing. And everyone is so very, very, very lovely. And I got to act with John Cho, which was very cool. It was such an amazing experience," Perkins said.

The young actor also admitted that they have watched the anime and shared their favorite Ed moment from the original series.

"One of my favorite Ed moments from the anime is definitely when there's a bounty on the Bebop, and he's being mean to Ein and Ed just comes down, bonks him on the head and starts biting him. It's truly amazing," Perkins said.

We're certainly glad that Perkins is playing Radical Ed and just a little disappointed that the hacker only appeared briefly in the first season. On the other hand, we're also expecting to see more of Ed in Cowboy Bebop Season 2 soon.

For now, there hasn't been any news on Cowboy Bebop Season 2. However, the next season could reveal whether Spike and Ed will be reunited with Jet Black and Faye Valentine. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

The first season of Cowboy Bebop is now streaming on Netflix.
